Kindergarten teacher killed in Florida car accident

On Behalf of | Oct 30, 2014 | Car Accidents |

A beloved kindergarten teacher tragically lost her life at the hands of a man believed to be guilty of reckless driving, according to local reports. Florida police had intended to charge the driver they believed to be responsible for the car accident that killed the 27-year-old elementary school teacher, but he was also killed. Psychologists have been dispatched to school grounds to help students cope with the loss.

According to the police report, the teacher was traveling on Florida A1A when the accident occurred. A 31-year-old male driver who had been witnessed driving recklessly before the crash struck her vehicle head-on. She was killed immediately and was declared dead by emergency personnel arriving in response to emergency calls.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.  The accident has rocked the small community the teacher had been a part of, and families are working with school officials to help her students come to terms with her loss.  The investigation into this car accident is still underway as of this writing.

If police confirm the male driver was responsible for the car accident, the family of the deceased teacher may choose under Florida law to file a wrongful death suit against the driver’s estate.  All record owners of the vehicle he was operating may also be culpable in such a suit, which would be handled in a civil court setting. Obviously no criminal charges can be applied posthumously.
