Why Retain A Board-Certified Trial Lawyer?

Choosing an attorney to handle your personal injury claim isn’t easy, especially when the result can have a lasting impact on your physical and financial well-being. At Wesley, McGrail & Wesley, we try to make this important decision a bit easier for clients with our record of successes, reputation in the community and rare credentials.

Attorney partner John W. Wesley was board-certified in civil trial practice by the Florida Bar Association from 2013 – 2023, one of the highest distinctions an attorney in the state can receive.

Why Retain A Board-Certified Trial Lawyer?

Certification is the highest level of evaluation by The Florida Bar of competency and experience within an area of law, and professionalism and ethics in practice. It is meant to help consumers identify specialists in certain areas of law. Fewer than seven percent of Florida’s attorneys are board certified, and only a small number of those are certified in civil trial practice.

In order to become board certified, a lawyer must:

  • Have practiced law for at least 5 years
  • Demonstrated substantial involvement in the area of the law
  • Receive satisfactory peer review
  • Satisfy requirements for continuing legal education and pass an exam

The area of civil trial practice is important to our firm for several reasons. It lets our clients know that we do not back down from trial when it is in their best interests. It shows them that we have the skills and experience to succeed in the high-pressure environment of a courtroom. And it demonstrates our knowledge of the civil rules and motion practices that can set them up for success.
