Car accident in Florida kills 1 man

On Behalf of | Apr 15, 2015 | Car Accidents |

One person has died following a large car crash involving two 18-wheelers, according to local sources. Florida police responded to the major car accident, which occurred on Interstate 75 around 4 a.m. the morning of April 12. The deceased man’s name has not been released pending notification of his family, and so far no charges have been filed in connection with the case.

A spokeswoman for the Florida Highway Patrol has confirmed that the multi-vehicle crash began with a passenger vehicle rear-ending a tractor-trailer. Both drivers may have exited their vehicles in time for the passenger car to be struck by a second tractor-trailer driven by a 39-year-old man. It is unclear at this time whether the deceased individual was already out of the car or if he was ejected by the force of the impact.

The man’s body was found in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75, where it had been run over by a fourth vehicle. It is believed the man was dead prior to this third impact. The investigation into this car accident is still ongoing as of this writing.

Too few details have been provided in order for anyone to make an accurate guess as to how this car accident played out. Florida authorities will continue their investigation to determine who was responsible for killing the deceased driver. Should fingers point in a consistent direction, one or more drivers could be held accountable for the death, facing possible criminal charges as well as a potential wrongful death suit from the deceased man’s family.
