Drivers face a lot of distractions every time they get behind the wheel. When most people hear the phrase “distracted driving” they automatically think about cellphones and texting. But distracted driving is classified as any activity that diverts a driver’s attention away from driving. Distracted driving is responsible for thousands of car accidents every year and may have played a role in a recent hit-and-run accident that killed a pedestrian in Florida. 

Police seeking information 

The accident happened during the evening hours on 10th Street near Belvedere Road in Orange County. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was discovered unconscious by a cyclist on the west shoulder of 10th street. Reportedly, the man was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officers noted that the pedestrian was likely walking northbound on the west shoulder of 10th Street and was hit by a vehicle they believe was headed south on 10th Street.  

Police said they do not have any information regarding the vehicle involved, but they are actively investigating the incident. Apparently, there were no witnesses and investigators found no physical evidence at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol is urging anyone who has information about the accident to contact them.
