Road intersections in Florida and elsewhere are notoriously dangerous. At any given moment, multiple vehicles are trying to get from one place to another while making turns into the paths of other cars. All drivers must remain vigilant when traversing intersections to avoid accidents, and when accidents do occur at heavily trafficked intersections, the results can be disastrous. Nowhere is this more evident than in a recent crash in Melbourne that involved several cars and claimed a person’s life.
The crash occurred at the intersection of New Haven Avenue and Harbor City Boulevard. The crash happened just before 4 p.m. on the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 22. The accident involved six vehicles and shut down traffic in the area for hours.
Authorities did not release the number of people injured. They did confirm one fatality but did not offer any identification of the victim. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear, and authorities are still continuing their investigation.
Legal recourse for victims
Should authorities discover who was responsible for the multi-car pileup, the driver will likely receive moving violation citations, and possibly even criminal charges, along with the potential of being named in a personal injury claim brought by the injured victims. Likewise, the surviving family members of the deceased victim may elect to pursue a wrongful death claim against any driver or drivers deemed responsible for the crash. By working directly with an experienced Florida personal injury attorney, they can gain a full understanding of their rights and options and increase their chances of obtaining a successful outcome for their civil claims.
