Unfortunately, Florida has a reputation as being one of the most dangerous states in which to drive. These days, it often feels like just going for a short drive can be an unpredictable and risky adventure. No person truly desires to be in a crash but it’s just a fact that the majority of drivers will be involved in a car accident at some point in their lives.
Recent accident in Lake County
Recently in Lake County, an accident involving two SUVs claimed the life of one person and injured another. The accident happened just before 2:00 pm on State Road 44 just north of Rory Lane. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of a Honda SUV was headed south on State Road 44 when, for unknown reasons, he attempted to make a U-turn from the southbound lane. Reportedly, during the U-turn attempt, a Chevrolet SUV was following and it crashed into the left side of the Honda.
Authorities said the driver of the Honda was taken to a local hospital where, tragically, he was pronounced dead. Although the driver of the Chevrolet SUV was not injured, a passenger was ejected and taken to a hospital with serious injuries, reports said. The Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the accident
There is help available for victims and families
It only takes a split second for a serious or fatal crash to happen. In Florida, when injuries or death occur in car accidents caused by the negligence of another party, victims and families reserve the right to take legal action against those deemed negligent. By contacting an attorney and filing a lawsuit, those affected could obtain much-needed compensation and, many times, a sense of justice.
