Both drivers killed in a recent Polk County crash

Details of recent fatal accident

Recently in Polk County, a two-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two people and injured another. The accident happened at night on U.S. 17-92 at Ernie Caldwell Boulevard. Apparently, an SUV was headed south on U.S. 17-92 approaching a northbound sedan. According to reports from Polk County Police, the driver of the sedan attempted to make a left turn onto Ernie Caldwell Boulevard and turned into the path of the SUV.

Reports said the impact caused the SUV to flip onto its roof. Tragically, both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, authorities said. A passenger in the SUV was injured and taken to a local hospital. Officers said U.S. 17-92 was closed for about four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
