Wrong-way driver may have intentionally caused accident

On Behalf of | Feb 23, 2023 | Car Accidents |

When Florida drivers get behind the wheel and take to the road, it is impossible for them to know what they are going to encounter. Serious car accidents can happen in a split second. Recently, a Florida driver was arrested and faces very serious charges after she apparently drove the wrong way and allegedly tried to crash into other vehicles on purpose.

Accident details

The incident happened in Okaloosa County during the afternoon hours in the eastbound lanes of Highway 98 near Hurlburt Field. Reportedly, the driver of a sedan began traveling west in the eastbound lanes. According to reports from eyewitnesses and police, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and deliberately swerving in an attempt to crash into oncoming traffic.

Reports said the sedan eventually collided head-on with a westbound sedan. The driver of the westbound sedan was seriously injured, authorities said. When police attempted to apprehend the wrong-way driver, she allegedly resisted and refused to walk to the police vehicle. Police said she was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer.

What can victims do after an accident?

It is often impossible to predict the actions of other drivers. Those in Florida who have suffered injuries or the loss of immediate family members in car accidents caused by a negligent driver have the right to consult with an attorney to discuss their rights to compensation. Damages from a successfully litigated lawsuit could help victims and families pay medical expenses and recover lost wages.
