Tractor-trailers are a common sight on Florida roadways. Although these massive trucks are vital to the economy, they can be very dangerous for those in smaller vehicles. A collision with one of these big rigs is likely to result in tremendous damage.
Fatal truck accident
Recently, an accident in Miramar involving a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a motorist. The crash happened during the morning hours along the Florida Turnpike near University Drive and mile marker 46. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, an SUV was stopped in the center lane when a tractor-trailer crashed violently into the back of the SUV.
Police said the driver of the SUV had exited the vehicle just before the collision, but a passenger remained in the front seat. Reportedly, the impact of the collision knocked the SUV into the concrete median wall along the inside shoulder of the roadway. The passenger was badly injured and taken to a local hospital where he died a short time later, authorities said.
What to do in the aftermath of an accident
These days, it is basically impossible to avoid sharing the road with tractor-trailers and other commercial trucks. When truck accidents happen, the reality is a collision with such a large vehicle can have deadly consequences. Those in Florida who suffer injuries or the loss of an immediate family member in truck accidents caused by negligence may want to discuss the matter with a legal representative. Damages from a successful claim could help victims and families cope with the aftermath of an unfortunate accident.
