Head-on crash with dump truck kills 3

On Behalf of | Jun 1, 2023 | Car Accidents |

Interstates and major highways across the state of Florida see high volumes of commercial traffic. Although large commercial vehicles like tractor-trailers, dump trucks and box trucks play vital economic roles, they are often intimidating to drivers of smaller passenger vehicles. An accident involving one of these large commercial trucks is usually fatal.

Details of a deadly collision

Recently in Parrish, three people lost their lives when an SUV and dump truck collided head-on. The accident happened during the afternoon on County Road 675 near Jim Davis Road. Apparently, the dump truck was traveling west on County Road 675 and entered a curve in the road. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the dump truck drifted onto the shoulder of the road, overcorrected to the left and crossed the centerline.

Reports said the westbound dump truck struck an eastbound SUV head-on. Tragically, the SUV driver and two passengers were killed in the crash. The driver of the dump truck was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, reports said.

Help for those affected

Commercial truck accidents make up a small percentage of the total number of motor vehicle accidents in Florida. But these crashes are more likely to cause serious or fatal injuries. Any individual in Florida who has been injured or suffered the loss of a loved one in truck accidents caused by negligence can begin the process of seeking legal recourse by consulting with an experienced lawyer. A successfully litigated lawsuit can result in victims and families receiving the financial relief they need.
